May 2009 to May 2010 - DP Solutions

Business Development Director

John joined DP Solutions in May of 2009. He assisted with the merger and integration of ATSG's staff and business operations and those of DP Solutions. In addition, John was responsible for establishing and coordinating relationships with Government organizations and large business enterprises. John developed and submitted numerous proposals to the State of Maryland.

February 1994 to May 2009 – ATSG

President and Director of Marketing, Sales, and Professional Consulting Services at ATSG John managed the sales team. He established new major account relationships and won many large project contracts. John developed and managed ATSG's Year 2000 Applications Readiness Consulting Services supporting major client companies such as First National Bank (now M&T Bank), Magellan Health Services, and Raytheon Corporation. Sandy Spring National Bank engaged John to define and manage a Bank Wide Year 2000 Readiness Project which included all of the bank's Administration, Operation and Business areas.

John also provided executive consulting services to ATSG's clients.

Mr. Heinz was regularly engaged at MBNA America Bank where he provided management consulting for large complex systems projects. He helped MBNA develop an Information Technology Strategy and Technology Architecture. Mr. Heinz also managed the project to construct a new datacenter and relocate MBNA's primary data center to a new operations facility in Dallas, Texas.

Prior to forming ATSG

Mr. Heinz was a Senior Vice President at Maryland National Bank (MNB). In his twenty-seven year career at MNB he managed numerous technology areas including: Applications Development; Data Center Operations; Technical Services; End User Computing; Data Management; and Telecommunications.

John was responsible for numerous major technology planning efforts and he managed many large projects including:

  • Establishing and integrating MNC Corporation's Management Information Systems.
  • Planning and managing the implementation of a three-year strategy to upgrade/replace/expand all computer systems and voice and data telecommunications resources at the bank. This project saved millions of dollars annually. It provided enhanced system and communication functions, and the capacity needed to support the bank's growth strategies
  • Consolidation/dilution recovery project integrating the Bank's Operation and Information Technology Divisions when MNC acquired American Security Bank
  • IT Representative and member of several due diligence teams reviewing other potential bank acquisitions.

Also, while at MNB, Mr. Heinz was the Director of Applications Development and Support. He was responsible for numerous projects including:

  • New design and development
  • Package installations
  • Conversions to new computer technology

He was also responsible for the ongoing maintenance, enhancement and production support of the Bank's Applications.

Mr. Heinz received an MBA from Loyola University of Maryland. He is a graduate of Excelsior College (formally the University of the State of New York).

Gerald Markowitz

Gerald Markowitz

Gerald Markowitz was a founder of Advanced Technologies Support Group (ATSG), a computer network services company. His information technology experience, spanning over 40 years, includes executive positions with Fidelcor (now Wachovia), Maryland National Bank (now Bank of America), NYNEX (now Verizon), and DISC, Inc. (now FiServ), managing various aspects of technology.

Prior to the formation of ATSG, Mr. Markowitz was President of DISC, Inc. a world-wide provider of software products to the financial industry. He joined DISC as a partner in 1979 and was appointed President in 1990, when DISC was a subsidiary of NYNEX. He was instrumental in helping DISC grow from a company of 7 employees to over 200, with annual revenues in excess of $20 million. In 1993, NYNEX divested all software companies, and ATSG was formed as a new private venture.

At ATSG, as the Chief Operating Officer since 1994, he was responsible for the day to day management of technical support operations for client networks and hosted applications. During his tenure at ATSG, Mr. Markowitz led the effort to establish a hosted 1099 federal and state reporting service. He was also actively involved with the development of wireless business applications using the BlackBerry platform.

In addition to his COO responsibilities, Mr. Markowitz worked directly with key clients providing technology management, including:

  • Network configuration for servers, workstations, switches, firewalls and routers
  • Telecommunications planning, carrier selection and contract negotiation
  • Project management for LAN/WAN implementations
  • Conversion to cloud computing using server and desktop virtualization
  • Staffing selection, hiring and termination
  • IT service and software package contract negotiation

Education

Mr. Markowitz holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science degrees from Drexel University, Philadelphia.
